MEB General Contractors Moves Up in Ranking among Nation’s “Top 400”

Chesapeake, VA. MEB General Contractors has been ranked as one of the largest contactors in the United States by Engineering News-Record (ENR) magazine in its "Top 400 Contractors" edition for a second year and has surpassed 100 competitors on the list for 2010. MEB’s ranking for the “Top 400 Contractors” for 2010 was based upon total 2009 revenue of $190 million. Last year was the first year MEB was ranked and that was based upon total 2008 revenue of $159 million.

MEB recognizes their LEED Accredited Professionals

The following individuals at MEB General Contractors have passed the LEED NC (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design – New Construction) exam, earning accreditation from the U.S. Green Building Council:

Wesley M. Bynum, LEED AP, DBIA, is the Chief Estimator and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management from East Carolina University.  Mr. Bynum oversees cost estimating for the company’s construction management, negotiated design/build and hard bid projects.  He has experience with a diverse range of construction types including schools, commercial office buildings, industrial warehouses, multi-family projects, water and wastewater treatment facilities, as well as municipal, state, and federal projects.

MEB Awarded Fuel Tank Replacement Contract at Craney Island Terminal, Portsmouth, VA

Chesapeake, VA. MEB General Contractors has won a $36.4 million firm-fixed-price contract for replacement of fuel storage tanks at Craney Island Fuel Terminal in Portsmouth, Virginia.  The contract was awarded by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Mid-Atlantic, headquartered in Norfolk.  MEB was selected by the Navy on the basis of a competitive “Best Value” process, which includes evaluation of both price and qualifications.  Craney Island is the U.S. Navy’s largest fuel facility with more than 1000 acres of above and below ground fuel storage tanks.

MEB Awarded Navy Contract for Jet Fuel Tank Replacement in Jacksonville, FL

Chesapeake, VA. MEB General Contractors has been awarded a $22.3 million contract for replacement of fuel storage tanks at the Fleet & Industrial Supply Center in Jacksonville, Florida. The contract was awarded by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southeast (NAVFAC Southeast), and MEB was selected on the basis of a competitive “Best Value” process, which includes evaluation of both price and qualifications.  As part of the Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP), FISC Jacksonville is a single point provider of supply chain and logistics products and services for all Naval activities throughout the southeast region, from North Carolina to Texas to Cuba.
